Cloud Computing (1)
Cloud computing is a pay-per-use model for enabling available, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. As such, it is the latest delivery approach for computing resources that involves offering computing as a service. Users can make use of technology-based services which are 'in the cloud' without needing to own or control the technology infrastructure that supports them.
The cloud is very much about network virtualisation, or the almost complete abstraction of processing and storage resources. However, it also combines grid computing and SaaS – which requires well-defined services, multi-tenancy and a shift to who runs and operates applications.
Our expertise
Working with the cloud means you need a hybrid set of skills. You can focus much more on the business with technology being more abstracted – more invisible. However, while the cloud means you need to know less about operating systems and some technical details, you will need to know a lot more about virtualisation, loosely coupled distributed systems, robust architectures, security and operational models that suit the cloud.
Object is an architecture and engineering centric solution oriented company with a long history in distributed computing, object technology, and modern software development methods. As such Object is ideally placed to provide a practical and relevant view of the emerging world of cloud computing.
We are firm believers in the possibilities offered by cloud computing. Benefits include reduced costs, the shift from CapEx to OpEx, increased flexibility, functionality, up-time, security, scalability and performance. Cloud computing will transform the way enterprises operate and provide the modern business with the IT agility it has been searching for. The starting point is having a deep understanding of the architectural issues involved in transitioning an enterprise to the cloud.
Our services
Object has the experience and independence to show organisations the way into cloud computing. Object can provide the necessary levels of abstraction to work with multiple cloud providers. We can provide the right application architectures that ensure reliable service through understanding the realities of the platforms and services offerings. Object's cloud services include a highly effective delivery using a range of different types of clouds.
