In 1989, Gerry Carroll was introduced to a radical new approach to software design called object-oriented programming. Although it was only in its infancy, Gerry felt it represented an IT breakthrough and founded a software development company based on this fundamentally different architecture. Object Consulting was born.

Spreading the word

Object became a world leader in this emerging technology, developing new techniques and evangelising to the unconverted. Gerry gathered around him people who were equally committed to software engineering excellence, and Object grew in scale, scope and reputation.

Developing a methodology

As the projects became more complex, we felt existing approaches to software development were no longer adequate. So we developed an entirely new methodology that reduced risk and dramatically increased our ability to deliver large-scale applications on time and budget. We called it Process Mentor.

Still leading the way

Object continues to be an international thought leader and we are regularly invited to present at global conferences. Many of the team have now been together for nearly twenty years but our passion for software engineering still burns bright. At Object, we seek ever greater challenges.
