Object Consulting presenting at Tech-Ed Australia
SYDNEY, 1 September, 2009 This year, three Object thought leaders are presenting in the Architecture track at Tech-Ed Australia, held from 8-11 September 2009 on the Gold Coast.
Darryl Chantry, Lead Consultant at Object, will present on “The Microsoft Application Platform: A Perspective”. Darryl will talk about the importance of application platforms and provide a general model for both on-premises and cloud platforms. He then uses this model to examine several important issues in this area, including the competition between .NET and Java, why SOA is failing, and how the Microsoft platform compares with its on-premises and cloud competitors.
Kevin Francis, Object’s Practices Manager and Solutions Architect MVP, will talk about “Challenging the Role of the Architect”. In this presentation, Kevin will challenge the audience with his views on Architecture and Architects, covering areas such as: the role of the Architect in a project context, the relationship between Architects and other roles in a project and professional context, and the skills and knowledge required by an Architect. Kevin will consider both iterative and agile types of projects.
Lead Consultant Richard Laxton’s presentation title is “Architecture from the trenches: Real world MVC and EF”, focussing on the notion that with any new or unfamiliar technology used for the first time, architectural plans are often found wanting. Recently, Object delivered a significant web application built on ASP.Net MVC, Windows Workflow and the Entity Framework with extensive use of AJAX and JQuery to improve the user experience. Richard’s presentation will express some of the critical lessons learned using a fluid combination of demonstration and discussion.
