Object Consulting Hosts Inaugural Australian Architecture Forum To Bring Software Architects Together to Share Experiences and Learnings

Post event online resource to be established for all architects to utilise

SYDNEY, 14 June, 2007 – Object Consulting, a specialist Australian consultant, trainer and developer of enterprise software solutions, has announced it will host the inaugural Australian Architecture Forum on June 27 in Sydney and June 29 in Melbourne.  The Forum is supported by the Australian Computer Society, the nation's peak body for ICT professionals, and is especially designed to bring software architects together to discuss the experiences and challenges of solutions architecture and to share ideas on best practice.

Andrew Dingley, Principal Architect at Object Consulting has been instrumental in bringing together this unique event.  He said, “The Australian Architecture Forum is an extension of Object's long-standing approach to designing solution architectures.  Our philosophy is that a practical and executable approach is going to deliver software that can be built and will actually work. However we noticed there wasn't any interactive, practical industry event that was technology agnostic and available for any software architect to attend.  He continued, “Object has created an event where the emphasis is on case studies and practical solutions and where attendees spend most of the day discussing real-life situations and have the opportunity to learn from both presenters and peers.”

The Forum's Keynote address is being delivered by Dr Donald Ferguson, Technical Fellow in Platforms and Strategy from the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, Microsoft.  Dr Ferguson will deliver an address on Concepts, Technical Overview and Reference Architecture of the Internet Service Bus, Service Oriented Architecture, Web Services, and Web 2.0.  The emphasis for the remainder of the Forum is on discussion and sharing at round table sessions with subject matter experts from a broad range of architectural backgrounds.

The Forum is ideally suited for architects and senior technical experts from enterprise, government and vendor organisations.  Some of the topics covered include ‘Challenges of being an Architect', ‘Architecture in Agile', ‘Microsoft Service-Oriented Architecture', ‘Aspect-Oriented Programming/Dependency Injection', ‘Security' and ‘Intellectual Property'.

Ideas and experiences from each of the round-tables will be recorded, anonymised, and added to a post-event Wiki that will grow to become a useful resource for architects in the community.  Post-event discussion will also feed this Wiki so that is becomes a living, breathing resource that every architect in the community can use.

Phillip Argy, President, Australian Computer Society, said, “The ACS is delighted to support the Australian Architecture Forum. An interactive event of this type can only benefit the Australian architecture community and the more solution architects that attend, the greater the shared experiences and learning will be.” Mr Argy will lead a round table on ‘ Intellectual Properties and legal ramifications with writing Software in Australia ' at the Australian Architecture Forum.

Gold Sponsors of the Forum are Microsoft, IBM and Thoughtworks; and Silver sponsors are EDS, Web Development Group, Strategic Data Management and IASA.

The Australian Architecture Forum will be held in Sydney on Wednesday June 27th June at Star City and in Melbourne on Friday June 29th at the Crown Conference Centre. Tickets for the full day event are available for $295 inc GST. For additional information or to enrol to attend please visit http://www.architectureforum.net.au
